Rainbow Plants (Byblis)

Glittering and often delicate, Rainbow Plants (Byblis) can sometimes appear as frosted sprays of water and, in sunlight, sparkle with multicolored hues. Their shining leaves and pretty flowers mask their deadly nature as they catch and kill countless tiny insects that make the fatal mistake of alighting upon them. The plants grow naturally in Australia and New Guinea.

These plants do best in warm to intermediate greenhouses and terrariums under bright lights. They can be grown outdoors from Spring through Summer in areas with warmer, humid summers. Make sure they are always sitting in distilled or purified water. Many of these species are annuals, so be sure to harvest the seed to sow next year!
