Nepenthes rajah x lowii J. Shafer Seed-Grown Potted

$ 174.99
Size: X-Small

Nepenthes rajah x lowii is a new hybrid from master hybridized Jeff Shafer, you can follow him on instagram @nepenthesgod for more information on his breeding program. We’re so excited to collaborate with Jeff to be able to offer his impeccably curated hybrids.

Nepenthes rajah has been considered the king of Nepenthes since the Victorian era. It is famous for producing some of the largest pitchers in the genus.

Nepenthes lowii is one of the more bizarre and famous pitcher plants; thanks to it's upper pitchers.  These spectacular, highly sought after Nepenthes have unusually shaped upper traps that resemble weird, constricted gourds.  But most interesting are the many hairs that grow along the interior of the lids.  Mature plants produce copious amounts of an oozy, white substance that was long mistaken for snail eggs.  Nepenthes lowii lures birds and shrews with these strange oozy white secretions and while they eat this tasty treat, their excrement drops neatly into the plants awaiting pitchers!

These are all seed grown individuals and this is not in TC so don’t miss out on this exciting but limited offering.

Despite being small, it arrived with several developed pitchers and another on the way.
